H F Talbot Esqre
Sir
I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your’s of the 31st ult.<1> enclosing additional specimens of your calotype process. <2> It occurs to me from your remarks that the rapid decomposition I have always been annoyed with in the Gallo nitrate arises from the brush only for I have always (and I now think very foolishly) placed the brush at once into the whole quantity mixed. I return you my sincere thanks for the present of additional specimens and assure you that you kindness induces me to hold myself deeply indebted to you.
I am Sir Very truly Yours
George Shaw
