My dear Sir,

No sooner were you gone this evening, than I remembered an engagement, which I was very stupid not to have remembered sooner, for Friday afternoon next, which quite puts that day out of my power for seeing you here, and setting before you, as I should otherwise have had so much pleasure in doing, some more examples of the art of your creation.

Can you kindly overlook my forgetfulness, & fix any other day, either sooner or later than Friday March 6^th; if you can only let me know a day before, so that the gas can be duly prepared, that will be quite soon enough; and 4^h or 4^h.30^m P.M. will be a leisure time for beginning
