Dear Sir

There will be no Exeat next Saturday, as the Sacrament of the Term will take place on March 1st Should there however be a holiday on this day fortnight, I regret to say that I could not give your Son permission to be absent for the Schools you mention. Such a power rests with the Headmaster alone, and I fear he would be very much indisposed to grant the permission as it is so contrary to the ordinary rule. I would suggest therefore that it would be better if you would yourself kindly make the application for an Exeat. He might be disposed to grant at your request that which I know he must be unwilling to <concede?> to my application.

Believe me Dr Sir Yours very truly

Thos Henry Steel

W H Fox Talbot Esqre
