Dear Henry

I shall be happy to come to Lacock on Monday as you propose – I am going today to Redlynch <1> from whence it is an easy journey

You may not perhaps have heard of the death of my cousin George Strangways <2> which took place lately at his brother’s in Devonshire he had been long sinking

Yr Aff
W Fox Strangways

Melbury <3>
21 April

Notes:

1. An Ilchester property in Somerset. The earls of Ilchester were barons of Redlynch.

2. Probably a son of the Revd the Hon. Charles Fox Strangways, one of whose other sons, Henry, was rector of Rewe in Devonshire.

3. Melbury, Dorset: one of the Fox Strangways family homes; WHFT was born there.
