My dear Henry,

Lady Elisabeth <1> has an idea that you said something as you went away about hearing from us by the Post today. – I therefore write a line to prevent your feeling disappointment – though I have nothing new to communicate. – I have not heard anything yet from Mr Kenrick <2> – But what I can say with pleasure is, that Baby <3> has been quite happy ever since you went – & it is now ½ past five – He had a nice sleep of three hours – so nothing can be better at present – Pray do not worry yourself about him, for I am sure there is no occasion – And he has been throughout the whole of today much more comfortable. – I think I forgot to tell you that I shd not take any more Calomel <4> to torment him, while I continue to nurse him –

Your affte
Constance. –

Thursday –
