Lacock Abbey
Feb 18. –

My dear Henry

Thank you for the treasures contained in your letter <1> of this morning. – I did not expect that my comparatively moderate request, made after some deliberation would produce such an abundant supply. –

My last letter from my Mother <2> informed me that they had just received & accepted a most pressing invitation, that to Moreton; <3> that they proposed paying it a little before Easter and would be delighted to take Lacock on their way to Town the beginning of Easter-week if Mr Feilding <4> & Lady Elisabeth <5> felt inclined to receive them. This you perceive was in consequence of what I was commissioned to say to them about coming here at Easter. – I now write by particular desire, to inform them that they will be received with pleasure, but to suggest that their visit here should take place before that to Moreton, as their journey would thereby be considerably shortened. – So I hope they will settle to come soon after you return, as of course they would not like to come when you are absent – and I have promised to tell them as soon as I know anything positive about your plans. –

I was going to send you a very particular kiss today having taken into my head that the 18th was somebody’s Birthday, <6> but Horatia <7> naughty Horatia! assures me it is the 11th & poor I let it pass by quite unconsciously! – But you will easily believe that on the 11th you did not occupy a much smaller place in my thoughts than you would, had I know [sic] all about it. –

Yr Affecte
Constance. –
