Friday. Feb. 2nd

My dear Father.

I think I shall come to Edinburgh on Wednesday. Feb 7th if it is convenient to you to do so I should be much obliged if you will send me a cheque on Coutts <1> for Fifteen Pounds, which for which I can give you a cheque in exchange on my arrival in Edinburgh or it may be deducted from my next allowance whichever is most convenient. I believe that by writing to Melksham I can get a bank post bill payable at so many days sight, but as I intend to leave for Edinburgh so soon and I do not know wl how long time would have to elapse before I could get the bill cashed I do not wish to adopt that plan. It [illegible deletion] is not always easy to get a cheque changed otherwise I could do that. Ela <2> says you have been talking of going away from Edinburgh for a bit. I hope very much you will not be gone before I arrive I shall not stay very long but shall not return to London till I have seen something of Tilly. <3> Our weather is very capricious and changeable trying I should think to many people. I am however so remarkably well. Please thank Ela and Monie <4> for their last letters. They are getting on with the Thames embankment and at Westminster they are putting up part of the coping. It will be a great public benefit when opened as will also be the Railways which are part of the same plan. Bagwell <5> has returned to these lodgings; talks very fast and his memory don't seem to be impaired. Has enjoyed his trip very much and made a long one - longer that I had supposed. With love to all.

Your affect son
Charles

P. S. I should be glad if you could let me have the money s soon as possible.
I open my letter to say that I have just got your and as you will see I intend to come on the 7th
