M Tuesday. June 2nd Evening.

My dear Father –

I have not time to write you a regular letter but just a line to say that the examination for the Poll has not only begun but is very nearly over, there is only tomorrow – Algebra, & the Thursday Reformation. I am in for it. The list comes out on Friday the 19th I believe. I saw the eclipse <1> very well – she (the moon) was red at the bottom & green at the top, altogether very peculiar.

Your affect son

Charles.

Notes:

1. Observed 1st June 1863.
