Dear Sir

I feel that I owe you some apology for the trouble & annoyance I have been obliged to give you in searching for Deeds &c with respect to the Shrewsbury Title.

When I saw you last summer you were kind enough to say your wishes were to elicit the truth & that you wished success to the man who had the best right.

I have to thank you for your kindness in searching for some of the Deeds & for permitting my Solr Mr Nicholson to have a copy of some.

I learn it is essential to the cause of truth that we should ascertain if any of the numerous deeds at Lacock have any further bearing in the case which it is almost impossible to do without a personal inspection. Might I then ask you to allow Mr Nicholson in conjunction with your own Solir Mr Awdry to make a personal search which would not occupy more than a few hours & might be of most material service in establishing the right person in his proper place

May I ask you to let me have a line from you at your earliest convenience

Your’s truly
Talbot
