My dear Papa,
We were very glad to hear of your safe arrival at Lacock, and likewise of pussy’s welfare – I dare say these transitions in her existence surprise her not a little – a letter from Mama came for you today & I forward it – You see she thought, like me, that you should have remained here till today or else she would have addressed to you at Lacock, Charles remains fixed in his intention of leaving on the 10th I think you heard before leaving us that John intended going to Stagshaw near Hexham on Friday last, & then on to London – He carried out his intention, only he remained at Stagshaw till Sunday evening, & went to London by the night train, arriving at ½ past nine on Monday morning. he does not yet know when he will be able to return here – not before the end of the week I think – I heard from Ernestine on Sunday, but she does not give any news – Aunt Caroline had not yet decided on her plans. – Charles had another letter from Lady Hylton, asking him to propose himself when he wishes to go there, which I think he will do. The children are very well – “Tot” making frequent enquiries whether Grandpapa has come back yet? & I am always obliged to disappoint him by saying no! Goodbye, dear Papa,
Love from all here
your affecte daughter
Tilly
