Tuesday morning

My dear Henry

We are just going to start for Carlisle 9. O’Clock A.M. The Cook has written to me to announce their arrival at Edinburgh on Saturday morning. They travelled through by night train. because poor Goodwin felt so ill – even on reaching Bristol – that the Cook & he thought they had better push on. At Edinburgh they put him into bed & sent for Dr Moir, who found him very feverish and ordered him to be kept perfectly quiet. – Dr Moir has been very attentive & thought him a little better yesterday. I will write from Carlisle

In haste your affte

Constance
