My dear Sir

Yesterday evening we saw a luminous phenomenon, supposed to be a variety of the Aurora Borealis, in the South West, midway between Aquila & Arcturus – It was like a bright white cloud – Perhaps you have made some corresponding observation. ^<1> It disappeared at ¼ before 8, rather suddenly –
