Lacock Abbey

July 1st

Sir

I beg to inform you that I received your letter and was glad to hear you was pleased with my account of our party at the Abbey I am much obliged to you for it I only wish you could have seen them when they was all seated round the Cloisters I am quite sure you would have been much pleased with the sight they was delighted with the grounds and gardens and took great notice of the flowers I am sure they will never forget your kindness in giving them such a treat Mr Rann told me to day that in his visiting the old people they speak of it with much plasure and say its the best tea party they ever enjoyed one poor old man came up to me before he left saying he was 73 years old and this is one of the best treats I have ever had, as they left me at the Lodge Gate they all desired me to thank you for your kindness to them I am sorry not to have mentioned that before I was much obliged for your direction about the Tables we found them very useful and they had a very nice appearance we had a large party altogether and I believe most of whose who came to see had a small peice of cake for which they was very pleased I have sent the accounts to Mrs Talbot hoping they will give you satisfaction

I beg to remain

Sir your obet Servant

GeoWilkins
