Mar. 25.
My dear Sir,
I think that you will be glad to have a brief report of Charles, but the period before this Vacation was so short that I cannot expect to record much progress in lessons – He has been writing steadily at his verses, and has begun to write Greek Exercises, in translation he has commenced the Anabasis, and in Latin some Cornelius Nepos, and when we set to work again I propose to make him write out translations of the latter, and re-translate into Latin on a subsequent day –
I am happy to be able to speak well of him in his general conduct since he has been here, as he is much improved in the management of his temper, and increases in obliging-ness to his companions – and for the week, during which the rest of my party have left except little Seymour, he has made himself agreeable to ourselves, and quite happy in his own pursuits –
With our united Comps: I beg to remain, Dear Sir, Yours very truly
James. A. Williams –
