Dear Sir,

I think Mrs Williams’ note to Mrs Talbot has probably explained about the chances of any one being able to accompany Charles into the Lake County, but if Lord Eglinton has left for Scotland before the 25th he will, I believe, have a servant to accompany his boy, who would then take charge of Charles also. Their route would be thro’ Oxford to Birmingham, unless it is necessary to sleep on the road, when they would go via London. but you will probably be able to inform me as to the best mode of catching the trains – en route –

Charles has been going on very steadily, and has made fair progress I do not think that he has made any great step, but as does all his lessons very regularly well, I hope to find that his advancement is sure also – His weak point in verses is a carelessness about quantity, arising from having first acquired a tolerable ear for the [illegible deletion] rhythm, and hence not being careful enough as to rule &c but I hope, to correct this – he has a good idea of writing them from subjects, and his prose is considerably improved

If you had remained a week longer at Lacock, I should have proposed your taking him with you, if it had seemed desirable to you, as he is an industrious boy, and would not waste his time –

I beg to remain Sincerely yours
James A. Williams
