Dec 31 / 53
Dear Sir,
I beg to enclose Charles A/c amounting with other payments to £71̀̀9̀̀6 –
I am happy to be able to give a good report of Charles in all respects, for he not only passed a good examination but has been working very steadily throughout the Half-year, as I find by reference to my daily register that he has obtained more marks than the others of his class – I am glad to observe also that he continues to improve considerably in his disposition towards his companions, as he is both more obliging and more disposed to take anything in good part, that he may not quite like –
I was particularly pleased with a set of verses that he wrote at the Examination, as he begins to have a poetical expression for his ideas–
We hope that he has been exempt from cold this very severe weather as we have had a sharp frost, during all the holidays –
I hope that all my party will have returned by the 24th as I wish them to be punctual.
Mrs Williams unites in Compts to Mrs Talbot and I beg to remain Yours very truly
James A. Williams
