Dummer House
July 30 –
My dear Sir.
I beg to enclose Charles’ A/c – and hope that he will reach you without any inconvenience –
I am happy to say that he has passed a very good examination in all his subjects, and has I hope made good progress since Easter. his <sic> Verses are decidedly improved. I am afraid I cannot say much for the Writing as it is still very cramped. I am afraid he may plead my practice as opposed to my preaching, but there is no occasion for him to copy my writing at any rate –
Our holidays end on the 16th of Septr and I hope that as it is the extreme day all will return punctually.
M. Ménard will be able to give Mrs Talbot a verbal report of his French, and I am happy to say that he gets on very well and industriously – In his general character and intercourse with his companions he is very much improved, and I think he bids fair to become a sociable and well-informed man – He is also very attentive to all instruction religious as well as secular –
I beg to remain, Dear Sir Yours very truly
James A. Williams –
