Dummer Basingstoke – Feb. 7
Dear Sir,
I beg to thank you for having ordered Charles’s account to be paid – We are sorry to hear that he should have suffered from deafness, but we generally find it increase [sic] in damp weather – and we may therefore hope for improvement now.
We are five miles (on the Winchester-Road) from Basingstoke, or rather – you would leave the high road about 3 ½ miles from Bke, by a long avenue of fir trees on the left hand –
It would give us much pleasure to offer Mrs Talbot and yourself a bed, if you bring Charles. Most of his companions return on Monday.
Mrs Williams desires to join in kind Compts to Mrs Talbot
and I am, Dear Sir yours very truly
James A Williams –
