Sir,

I am now desirous to take a licence to use your patent for photographic portraits, and will on hearing that you are at home, remit one hundred pounds.

I have not come to this conclusion from anything that I saw at M. Claudets, for there I was disappointed, but from the beautiful specimens in your pencil of nature. I do not presume to dictate terms to you but should like to have an exclusive licence for Manchester, for I expect a good many difficulties to contend with. <1>

Please address me at Mr Brooke Evans, Islington, in this place, where I expect to remain for the next two or three weeks.

I have the honor to be Sir,Very obediently yours
Thomas Wyatt

Notes:

1. In fact, this did not work out well for him, and he Wyatt later applied to WHFT for permission to extend this license to the new albumen process. See Doc. No: 06566.
