My dear Sir,
If I understand aright another Assyrian volume <1> is to appear in December so you should forward your MS to Messrs Bagster <2> for that volume. I have heard of no intention of discontinuing the publication. At the same time I know nothing about the sale or prospects of the work. There is not room for more in the present issue which the publisher themselves regulate. The work I believe succeeds fairly and pays its expenses
As Bagster set up for private information what they have in hand your translations should be ready at an early period The public were promised four volumes. This but the whole work was not to exceed twelve. At the end is to be a classified list of translations chronologically arranged. The preface of the present Assyrian vol. V. is written and it is [rapidly?] printed and will be issued shortly. You have no doubt seen the grammar what is now wanted is a skeleton Accad and Assyrian grammar <3> for students Last night I read your short paper I hope the rest of the tablet will be found so as to make out what it is all about. As yet no news of the Firman which has been applied for
Yours very truly
S Birch
