Dear Sir

I sent to Laycock Abbey to know if I would see you yesterday as I was in that part of the county but found you were in town – I am anxious to see you on the subject of the line of the Wilts & Somerset Br <1> and to settle definitely whether a deviation is to be sought for by an Act of Parliament <2> or not –

I shall be obliged by your letting me know if you can see me and what time of the day is likely to be most convenient to you

I am dear Sir Very faithfully yours
I K Brunel

Fox Talbot. Esq –

Notes:

1. Brunel was the engineer for the Great Western Railway Company, which intended to build a branch line, the Wiltshire, Somerset and Weymouth Railway, running across WHFT’s land.

2. See Doc. No: 05360 and Doc. No: 05407.
