When do you come to town? I have received from Persia some cones ^<1> of Pinus orientalis which I suspect from being said to grow like a cedar & the character of the cones to be like the Canadian Hemlock Spruce their resin is very aromatic

Hooker ^<2> is ill I hear

Tell me in calculating chances scientifically is the basis of calculation perfectly arbitrary – & does the mode of calculation differ with the basis you may take?
