Saturday 25th Octr 1823
The first thing we saw in driving round the bay when we had entered the Gates was an English frigate & a twelve oared boat rowing gaily up to it, which proved to be Sir Thomas Maitlands <1>, & in a quarter of an hour we saw him set sail for the Ionian Islands. The whole thing looked like such a very different set out to all the rest. [illegible deletion]
