4 Hare Court
Temple <1>
Jany 13 1843
Sir
I have just received your letter <2> & am much obliged by its contents
I shall probably have but a short time to devote to the preparation of my lecture & shall not be able to consult many books, but as the subject is familiar to me I could soon get at the principle of each engine by inspection I have not yet seen Mr Davidsons exhibition <3> but shall visit it before my lecture
Should your engine <4> be ready by this time I shall be much obliged by the loan of it & should you visit London in the interim I should much like to have some conversation with you on the subject
There appear to be few, if any, comparative expts published on the results of different constructions when of the same size & working with the same Voltaic power
I remain Sir your obedt Servt
