From the Life - John Frederick Goddard reads to Charles Porter and Nicolaas Henneman, at Lacock Abbey

The spirit of scholarly exchange is at the heart of The Correspondence of William Henry Fox Talbot project. We invite research inquiries and will endeavour to assist scholars who require specific information prior to publication of the full corpus of letters.

The involvement of outside scholars and members of the general public in the search for missing items is welcomed. A sizeable number of Henry Talbot's outgoing letters are still not accounted for. Those that survive might have wound up in private collections, autograph collections or specialist archives. The Project is actively seeking these strays and many have already been located through the kindness of colleagues and friendly strangers. A few of Talbot's incoming letters are also not accounted for. If you know of any letters to or from Talbot - or any leads on letters, such as copybooks or auction records - we would very much like to hear from you. email: ljswhft@gmail.com

The anonymity of private collections can be assured. In these cases, please contact the Project Director directly, either by post or telephone or to his personal email address.

Whenever practical, the Project will try to assist researchers in their queries.

Thank you for your assistance!
